The Midlands Consortium is honoured to host the new Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) – a public-private partnership established to speed up the deployment of new low-carbon energy technologies in support of the UK's energy and climate change goals. Read more here.

The Midlands Consortium comprises the University of Birmingham, Loughborough University and the University of Nottingham. It is supported by the regional development agencies Advantage West Midlands and East Midlands Development Agency.

Initiated in October 2006 by the three Vice-Chancellors, the consortium recognising the synergies between the extensive energy research activities of the three Universities and aims to utilise and enhance those synergies. The Consortium has a deep reservoir of talent, ideas and skills with which to contribute to the successful development of low carbon technologies. Its network of academic and industrial partners reaches across the UK and internationally. The consortium will work collaboratively and lead on core university business aimed at energy research, teaching and knowledge transfer. It will support and engage with the Energy Technologies Institute in driving forward successful development and deployment of low carbon technologies
